INTRODUCTION

TVScreenCNNBreakingNews.jpgThe attacks of September 11, 2001 ("9/11") changed the United States forever. Over 3,000 people were killed, including hundreds of first responders who immediately rushed to the scene to save as many people as possible. In the days following the horrific attacks, emergency personnel from all over the country flocked to New York to assist in locating and treating survivors. Additionally, thousands of Americans donated blood, money, and supplies for victims of the attacks in New York and the Pentagon. A new Cabinet level department known as the Department of Homeland Security was developed to secure the nation and to help keep citizens safe from future terrorist threats.

After 9/11, patriotic feelings ran high in the United States. The media, through photographs, video and music helped to spread the feeling of patriotism and 9/11 remains one of the most covered events in history. I have compiled numerous photographs, news articles and video clips for you to utilize for this assignment.
